We started this web site soon after 8/29/05, the day Hurricane Katrina slammed into the Gulf Coast, obliterating our home, our neighborhood, and the towns of Bay St. Louis and Waveland in Mississippi.
After almost nine months of living in a FEMA trailer and seeing no wide-spread rebuilding effort in the near future, we decided to get an RV that would be home for a while. How much time is anyone's guess. I remember seeing a sign in a store in West Yellowstone, Montana that read, "If you want to make God laugh, tell him your future plans." Anyone who knows us would probably agree that he's had some doozies in store for us!

We are grateful that we had the experiences of living on a boat (for 10+ years) and doing the last year of Boston Whaler's Unsinkable Legend Tour (2005) in a truck camper. The experience of living on a boat fueled our desire to see as many new and different things as possible and the truck camper gave us the experience of camping, not to mention giving us a place to live for two months after the hurricane. Both gave us the experience of living in a small space. Adjusting to full-time RV living was not hard.

Probably the main thing that convinced us to leave Bay St. Louis is that our first grandchild was born on June 4, 2006, and the reality that Life Goes On In Spite of Everything became apparent. For most of her pregnancy, our daughter, Kate, was on her own while her husband, Steve, was deployed with the 101st Airborne in Iraq. Helping her out in those last months before Bobby's birth seemed to be a better reason to leave Bay St. Louis than to stay. Once that decision was made, the rest was easy. We knew what we wanted in an RV, so it was just a matter of finding the right one. We selected a Montana 3400RL 5th wheel.
We are, by no means, quitting any time soon, hoping that adventures continue to come or way, or visa versa! We'll keep you posted!
